Privacy Policy
Protecting your personal data is our highest priority when using the “BR Manager” app. As this application is designed for civil protection operations, it follows strict privacy guidelines.
1. Local Data Storage
All data you enter (deployments, units, strength reports, log entries and location data) is stored exclusively in a local SQLite database on your device, encrypted with SQLCipher (AES-256). No data is transmitted to servers or cloud services of the developer. The database is excluded from Android system backup.
2. Internet Connection and Optional Online Services
The app does not require an active internet connection for core functionality. No analytics tools (tracking), advertising IDs or crash reporting are used. Errors are logged locally only and never sent automatically.
Two optional features use the internet:
- Weather at the deployment site: If a deployment has coordinates, the app fetches the weather from Open-Meteo (open-meteo.com). The coordinates of the site and, for technical reasons, your IP address are transmitted. No account and no key are used.
- Address lookup: When capturing the location, the operating system asks the Apple or Google geocoding service for an address matching the coordinates.
Both features can be switched off completely under Settings → Legal → Online services. No coordinates then leave the device; the GPS position is still captured locally only.
Situation display on the local network: On explicit action, the app can serve a situation display and a check-in terminal on the local Wi-Fi. Access is protected by an access code (QR code) and optionally a station PIN; data only goes to devices on the same network, not to the internet.
3. Permissions
- Location (GPS): Used to capture the GPS position of the staging area. Coordinates are stored locally and documented in the PDF export; for transmission with online services enabled see section 2. Location access is triggered only by explicit user action (GPS button).
- File System: Required to export the operation log as a PDF document and to create database backups. Files are stored locally or shared via the system share dialog.
4. Data Control and Deletion
You have full control over your data. Deleting the app will irrevocably remove all associated data and the local database from the operating system.
5. Data Export
The app allows exporting the operation log as PDF and creating a backup (.brm) encrypted with a password of your choice. These exports are created locally and only shared via the system share dialog upon your explicit action.
6. Responsibility
Since the developer has no technical access to stored content, responsibility for compliance with official data protection guidelines lies with the respective user of the app.
